For visitors wanting to spend the night on Mackinac Island, the most common question I am asked is “Where to Stay on Mackinac Island?” There are many different options for lodging from the “all inclusive” Grand Hotel to single bedrooms without a view.
When I set out to create this page, I decided not to review any of the hotels on Mackinac Island. Many other websites offer reviews which are easy to find. What I wanted to do is provide all of the information about visiting Mackinac Island in one place where potential visitors could quickly find it. Grand Hotel
Location: Cadotte Street on a bluff overlooking Lake Huron
Why the Grand: The Grand Hotel is the most famous hotel on Mackinac Island. It is an all-inclusive resort which was featured in the movie Somewhere in Time. Guests get VIP treatment throughout their entire stay, including being picked up by a special carriage upon arriving at Mackinac Island.

Why the Chippewa Hotel: The 116 year old Chippewa Hotel offers a fantastic view of the Star Line’s Dock 1 as well as Main Street. The famous Pink Pony restaurant is located inside the Chippewa Hotel.

Mission Point Resort
Location: Far east end of the Main Street area
Why Mission Point Resort: Mission Point Resort is located away from the noise of Main Street on the “sunrise side” of Mackinac Island. The resort has over 18 acres of water front grounds up against Lake Huron.

Island House Hotel
Location: East end of Main Street next to Marquette Park
Why the Island House Hotel: The Island House is Mackinac Island’s oldest hotel and one of the few hotels on Mackinac Island with an indoor pool.

Room rates are not posted on website. The Island House offers Deluxe Queen/King Rooms, King Suites, View Suites, and more. There are lots of add ons available to the basic room rate.
When I did a sample search most deluxe rooms were in the $300+ range and suites were in the $500+ range.

Location: East end of Main Street near St. Anne’s Church
Why the Inn on Mackinac: The Inn on Mackinac was built in 1867, and despite renovations and modernizations, has much of the same historic charm today as it did then.

Windermere
Location: West end of Main Street across from Windermere Point
Why the Windermere: The Windermere is owned by Mackinac Island’s Doud Family and has been family run since 1904. Originally a summer residence, the Windermere offers spectacular views of the Straits Area.
