The Best Views of Ljubljana - The Ljubljana Castle Tower
After disembarking the funicular atop Castle Hill, I made a beeline for the Ljubljana Castle Tower, home to the city’s most breathtaking panorama.
Climbing to the Top of the Ljubljana Castle Tower
Reaching the top requires a climb up a winding metal staircase, but the reward is undeniable.

Panoramic Perfection
Once at the summit of the Ljubljana Castle Tower, the city unfolds like a captivating masterpiece. The castle courtyard lies directly below, while Ljubljana’s enchanting skyline stretches out in every direction.

The Better of Two Observation Points
While there’s another observation point on the castle walls, the Ljubljana Castle Tower reigns supreme. Its 360-degree vantage point offers an unparalleled perspective of the city’s beauty.

A Festive View of Prešernov trg
I visited Ljubljana Castle on the magical day of Christmas, and the view from the tower was truly unforgettable. Prešernov trg, adorned with its festive Christmas tree, looked like a scene from a postcard.

Christmas Market Magic
The Christmas Market in the castle courtyard was a magical touch. I loved strolling through the stalls and soaking up the festive atmosphere.

A Walk Around the Castle
I decided to walk completely around the castle. The views from the outside were just as impressive as those from the tower.

I even caught a glimpse of Kongresni trg.

Capturing the Moment
I couldn’t resist grabbing a group of people for a photo in front of one of the castle’s beautiful windows. Maybe one day they will even find this page.

The Ljubljana Castle Chapel
The Chapel of St. George is a must-see for history buffs. As one of the castle’s oldest structures, dating back to the late 1400s, it offers a fascinating glimpse into Ljubljana’s past.

While I didn’t spend a lot of time exploring the castle’s exhibits, I did find a few interesting pieces. The weapon displays were particularly fascinating. It’s incredible to see the evolution of warfare firsthand.

A Surprising Past
I was surprised to learn that Ljubljana Castle once served as a penitentiary for World War I prisoners. This unexpected piece of history added depth to my understanding of the castle’s role over the centuries.

Dragons Everywhere
As the city of dragons, Ljubljana certainly lives up to its name. The castle is adorned with dragon motifs everywhere you look. It’s a fun and whimsical touch that adds to the castle’s charm.
