Hilton Resort and Spa - Queenstown

Hilton Resort and Spa Queenstown Rate and Room Information

My original reservation was for the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton Queenstown.

When I went to check-in, I was told that my reservation had been upgraded to the Hilton Resort and Spa. The Hilton and the Doubletree are connected, so it was only a few minutes to walk from the Doubletree’s registration desk to the Hilton’s registration desk.

The cost of my original room was NZ$717 ($459) for three nights. Obviously, the cost of my upgraded room would have been quite a bit higher. The most likely reason for my upgrade was that I have “Gold Status” with Hilton. This status is due to my American Express Hilton Credit Card, which grants Gold Status automatically. The card has a $95 annual fee but I felt like I made up for that fee just in this upgrade.

My Room at the Hilton Resort and Spa - Queenstown, New Zealand

My room at the Hilton Resort and Spa Queenstown was a Deluxe King Room with a View. While the room was typical of what I would expect from Hilton, some additional features are worth noting. First, the room had a gas fireplace that could be used to quickly remove the chill of the Queenstown winter. This was unique as it was the first time I’d ever stayed in a hotel room with a fireplace. Next to the fireplace was a large workspace that I used to update my website and upload my pictures.

Although not characterized as a suite, the room definitely had the feel of a suite. Across from the fireplace was a couch and a chair that faced one of the rooms two televisions. This television was mounted directly above the fireplace.

One of the most spectacular features of the room was the bathroom. The bathroom had a rainfall type shower, two sinks, and an oversized bathtub. There was plenty of warm water, and the bathtub was perfect for soaking my sore muscles after many hours and kilometers of walking around.

The View from My Room - Hilton Resort and Spa - Queenstown, New Zealand

The Hilton Resort and Spa Queenstown overlooks the Franklin Arm of Lake Wakatipu.  I was thrilled when I entered my room to see that it overlooked the water.  From my balcony, I had a spectacular view of the Franklin Arm, the hotel courtyard, and the distant snowcapped mountains.

Although my balcony offered stunning views of the Franklin Arm, I also enjoyed walking the hotel grounds.  There is a walking path that follows the Franklin Arm of Lake Wakatipu.  I highly recommend spending some time walking the shoreline and taking in the beautiful views of the water and snowcapped mountains.

Meals at the Hilton Resort and Spa - Queenstown, New Zealand

The Hilton Resort and Spa Queenstown is not located in the Queenstown City Centre, which means there are not many restaurants in the area. As a result, I ate a few of my meals at one of the many hotel restaurants.

The Hilton Resort and Spa offers the following dining options: Lake Counter Cafe and Deli, Me and Mee Chinese, Stacks Pub, and the Wakatipu Grill.

My favorite restaurant was the Me and Mee Chinese restaurant, which I ate at twice. Below are some of my favorite items from the Me and Mee Chinese Restaurant.

How to Take the Water Taxi from Hilton Resort and Spa to the City Centre of Queenstown

The Hilton Resort and Spa Queenstown is located 15 kilometers from the Queenstown City Centre.  Although driving is an option, the easiest way to get from the hotel to the city centre is to take the water taxi.

Hotel guests receive a special rate of NZD$5 (one way) from the hotel to the Queenstown City Centre.  The water taxi leaves every 30 minutes from the conveniently located dock just in front of the hotel’s entrance.  During my visit, the water taxis hours were from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.  For more information, you can visit the Queenstown Water Taxis’ website by clicking HERE
