Warsaw
I landed in Warsaw, Poland with a long layover ahead of me. Thankfully, I had heard that Warsaw Chopin Airport is small and easy to navigate, so I wasn’t too worried about catching my connecting flight. I hopped on a train from the airport to get to the city center. Since I had some time to kill, I left my luggage at Warsaw Central Station for a fee.
Warsaw is a very walkable city, so I decided to explore on foot. The Vistula River was a great starting point for my walk. The riverwalk was bustling with activity, and there were plenty of cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating where I could relax and take in the sights and sounds of the city. After a leisurely stroll along the river, I made my way to Warsaw’s Old Town.
Warsaw Old Town is a great place to get lost in the maze of narrow streets and colorful buildings. I started my exploration in Castle Square, where I was immediately impressed by Sigismund’s Column, one of Poland’s most famous monuments. The Warsaw Castle, which is the main attraction of Castle Square, was also quite impressive. Since I was short on time, I opted not to go inside, but I made a mental note to visit it on a future trip to Warsaw.
Next, I climbed the 147 steps to the viewing terrace of the Warsaw Observation Tower. The 360-degree panoramic view of Old Town Warsaw and the surrounding area was definitely worth the climb. From the observation deck, I could see all of the major landmarks that I wanted to visit, including St. Anne’s Church, which dates back to 1454, and the Presidential Palace, which has been the home of the President of Poland since 1994.
Even though I only had a long layover in Warsaw, I was able to see quite a bit of the city. With a little planning, it’s definitely possible to pack a lot into a short amount of time in Warsaw!
Warsaw’s Chopin International Airport has become one of my favorite airports and LOT Polish has become one of my favorite airlines. I have flown in both Business and Premium Economy. Here is what I have learned about both classes.
If you’re looking for a comfortable seat with more legroom than economy, premium economy is a good option. The seats don’t recline as much as business class seats, but they’re still comfortable for shorter flights. They also come with meals and snacks.
Business class is the way to go if you want to sleep comfortably on a long-haul flight. The seats lie flat, so you can get a good night’s rest. Business class also comes with larger entertainment screens, an amenity kit, and gourmet meals. While it is more expensive, it can be worth it if you want the extra amenities and comfort.
Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your budget and your travel needs.
