A Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise of Barcelona from the Port of Barcelona
During my first full day in Barcelona, I took the Barcelona Metro to Drassanes Station. Drassanes was located near the famous La Rambla Street and within walking distance of the Port of Barcelona. As I began walking around, I saw a sign for a Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise of Barcelona. The cruise offered an excellent chance to see many of the famous buildings in Barcelona while relaxing on the Mediterranean Sea.
Many different companies were offering a Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise of Barcelona. My method of choosing a company to cruise with was not very scientific. I booked my ticket with the company who had the next cruise leaving port. A price of €20 seemed very reasonable for a 90-minute cruise.
I arrived back at the port about 30 minutes before my cruise was to depart. About 15 minutes before the departure time the cruise boarded all passengers. I took some pictures of the harbor and made sure that I had a good seat near the side of the ship facing shore.

The Departure Point of My Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise - The Port of Barcelona
Our Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise of Barcelona began by taking us out of the Port of Barcelona. There were many different vessels including freighters and cruise ships. As we moved out into the open water of the Mediterranean, it was a little more choppy than I expected. Off in the distance was a fleet of freighters waiting for their turns to come into the Port of Barcelona to unload.

As the sightseeing cruise of Barcelona continued, I did my best to get adequate pictures of the sights of the city. It was extremely windy on the Mediterranean that day, and the cruise ship was bouncing up and down in the waves. As we set out a route down the Barcelona coastline, I was able to take a good picture of the Montjuïc Castle and the famous Sagrat Cor Church. Sagrat Cor Church sits on the top of Tibidabo Hill overlooking all of Barcelona.
A few minutes later the famous Sagrada Familia Basilica came into view. As we continued down the coastline, we passed the resort area which included a mix of hotels, casinos, and beaches. There was also a fascinating sculpture that at the time of the cruise I could not figure out what it was. As I was typing up this blog post, some research showed that it was a sculpture of a fish created by famous sculptor Frank Gehry.
At this point of Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise of Barcelona passed by the resort area of Barceloneta which included the beautiful beaches and some pretty impressive buildings. A few of my favorites included the crystal looking Torre Glóries (Glory Tower) and the unique shape of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Campus del Mar. At the time of my Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise of Barcelona, I had no idea what many of these buildings were.
Mediterranean Sightseeing Tour of Barcelona - Our Only Stop
The sightseeing tour then reached our only stop on the tour which was a quick stop at the harbor by the BISC International Sailing Center. I decided against getting off to look around as it was already starting to get dark. After a five minute wait for new passengers to get on, we set off for the Port of Barcelona.

On the way back I was able to get a few better pictures which included the fancy W Barcelona Hotel and the Edifici Colón building which had a nice looking observation deck.
As we returned into the Port of Barcelona, I was happy with the Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise of Barcelona. My only complaint was that there was no audio telling us what we were seeing. It wasn’t until after my cruise that I was able to find out what most of the buildings were.
