About My Trip to Germany

My recent trip to Munich, Germany, offered a delightful mix of cultural exploration and unexpected discoveries. During a day spent traversing the city, I encountered a surprising yet thoroughly enjoyable activity: surfing on the Eisbach River within the expansive English Garden. This unique attraction, made possible by a man-made wave, highlights Munich’s innovative spirit.

Beyond this unexpected gem, Munich boasts a wealth of historical and architectural wonders. Marienplatz, the central square, serves as a perfect starting point for any exploration. For architecture enthusiasts, the New Town Hall and Frauenkirche are not to be missed.

Munich

I visited Munich, Germany and spent a day exploring the city. I started my day at Marienplatz, a famous square in the heart of Munich. I wandered around Old Town Munich, taking in the sights and soaking up the atmosphere.

In the afternoon, I made my way to the English Garden. To my surprise, I saw people surfing on the Eisbach River! This was definitely the most unexpected and enjoyable part of my trip. Even though it was December, there were five surfers braving the cold water, all decked out in wetsuits. I learned that the Eisbach is a popular surfing spot thanks to a man-made wave created by a stone step in the river. However, surfing here is only for experienced surfers due to the strong current and cement barriers.

My trip to Munich, Germany, took an unexpected turn during a stroll through the English Garden. There, amidst the December chill, I stumbled upon a sight that captivated me: a group of surfers riding the rapids of the Eisbach River. Witnessing this unique scene, a testament to both the surfers’ skill and the ingenuity of the man-made wave, became the highlight of my entire Munich visit.
