Where to Eat in Tromsø, Norway
Where to Eat in Tromsø, Norway - My Meals in Tromsø
Where are the best places to eat in Tromsø, Norway? That was the question I found myself researching before I visited Tromsø.
As far as eating different meals in Tromsø, being a solo traveler, I usually don’t spend much time sitting down and eating fancy dinners. Most of my meals either come from street vendors or local fast food-style restaurants or are eaten at my hotel. Since I only had four full days in Tromsø, I didn’t want to spend any more time sitting and eating than I had to. I did eat two very different meals that I would like to feature on this page.

Where to Eat in Tromsø, Norway - Tromsø Burger King
My first meal was too tempting to pass up as Burger King is one of the only American fast-food restaurants in Tromsø and one of the furthest north Burger Kings in the World. The Tromsø Burger King had a similar menu to any burger king and only took credit cards. They did not accept any cash.
I ordered a whopper combo, with fries and drink and paid 160 NOK. I didn’t realize how much that indeed was until I saw my credit card statement and realized I’d just spent $20 on a Burger King Combo. Regardless, the whopper was delicious and possibly even slightly better than Burger King in the US. The only downside was, as is customary in Europe, there was no ice for my drink.
If you want something to eat that is quick, and also would like to tell your friends you spent $20 on Burger King, then the Tromsø BK is your place.
Where to Eat in Tromsø, Norway - Peppes Pizza
The second meal I’d like to feature was a meal that I couldn’t pass up. I grew up in Suburban Chicago and Chicago Style Food will always be close to my heart. When I saw the sign below, I had no choice but to go inside and give Peppes Pizza a try. At the time, it was snowing pretty hard, so it was an excellent chance to get inside and warm up while experiencing something I never thought I would; Chicago Style Pizza in Tromsø, Norway above the Arctic Circle.
For those of you familiar with Chicago Style Pizza, my favorite place is Lou Malnati’s. I do not believe that they have ever made a pizza like the Rio Grande (Taco Meat, Salsa, Jalapeños, and Nacho Chips) or the Moby Dick (Jumbo Shrimp, Leek, and Lime). When I eat Chicago Style Pizza, I usually order a deep dish Sausage and maybe sometimes add peppers and onions. I chose a safe choice and went with the Ham and Pepperoni. I was given the option of adding an appetizer and a dessert, for a set price, which I decided to do.
Joining my “Chicago Style” Pizza was an order of Garlic Bread Deluxe and an Oreo Brownie Cheesecake Sundae.
While it didn’t taste at all like Chicago Style Pizza, the pizza was excellent. The crust was crispy, it had a generous amount of toppings, and just the right amount of sauce and cheese.
The Garlic Bread Deluxe had real mozzarella and a sort of salsa-like tomato sauce. I thought that was just okay.
The Oreo Brownie Cheesecake Sundae was my absolute favorite. I could have eaten 10 of them. I would recommend making a stop at Peppes Pizza if you are looking for a good meal.
The total cost of my meal was 365 NOK or around $45. Peppes pizza gave me enough energy to keep me warm and well fueled during my Northern Lights Chase.
