It has always been a dream of mine to go to Iceland as it is one of my favorite countries that I cover in World Geography. Iceland is a country of unique geography, fantastic culture, superstitions, and hard-working people. The country also uses geothermal energy for electricity and provides free hot water to all of its citizens. I hoped that 48 hours in Iceland would be enough to take in some of the sights of this gorgeous country.
Iceland is a country that was for a long time isolated from the rest of the world. Recently, that has changed, and Iceland has become a top tourist destination. Although Iceland is not nearly as isolated as it once was, it is still a place I wanted to visit.
During the summer of 2017, I had planned to visit my second cousin in London. This trip was the perfect opportunity to make a quick stop in Iceland as well as hit up some other destinations in Europe as well. This trip took me through Iceland, Barcelona, Andorra, and London.

Knowing that this would be a quick stop on a mini European tour, it would not be possible to do everything that Iceland had to offer. 48 Hours in Iceland - 20 Hour Days
Thanks to roughly 20 hours of daylight, I was able to accomplish so much in three short days in Iceland. It was an amazing feeling being in an island country that is smaller than most American cities. Iceland’s population of 334,000 is only six times larger than my home, which is a suburb of Minneapolis. It was a trip I’d never forget, and I hope to be able to return one day. Next time I hope to spend more than 48 hours in Iceland.
