If you’re looking for Brno Town Hall tickets, you can easily purchase them both online and from the ticket office inside Brno’s Old Town Hall. I opted to buy my tickets directly from the ticket office. During my visit, there was no line, and a friendly agent assisted me in printing my ticket while providing helpful information about the viewing platform.

  • Adults: CZK 90 (approximately $4)
  • Students and children under 15: CZK 50 (approximately $2)

Climbing the Steps to the Brno Town Hall Observation Platform

There are 173 steps leading to the top of Brno’s Old Town Hall observation tower. While I may not be in peak shape, I found the Brno Town Hall stairs to be manageable. For those who may find climbing the steps at Brno Town Hall challenging, I recommend taking your time and resting every 10 to 20 steps.

Along the way, you’ll encounter several exhibits about the Old Town Hall, making the ascent more enjoyable and informative. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos of the steps themselves, but I managed to capture two screenshots from my GoPro video, though they aren’t the best quality.

The Brno observation deck steps are wooden and quite wide, differing significantly from the narrow, winding steps typically found in the bell towers of many historic churches. After step 173, you will be treated to a fantastic open-air 360-degree view of Brno, Czechia.

Best View of Brno: What You’ll See from the Town Hall Platform

Once at the 360-degree observation platform, you’ll be treated to the best view of Brno. There’s plenty to see! I started by gazing towards the Church of St. James, which was undergoing construction at the time, with its facade covered in scaffolding.

Next, my gaze shifted to the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, beautifully framed by the bustling activity of Zelný Trh, home of the Vegetable Market, right in the foreground.

Turning my attention away from Old Town Brno, I spotted two giant chimneys and a structure that resembled a nuclear cooling tower. However, I learned that the tower is actually a water-cooling tower. Beyond this tower, you can see some high-rise apartments that dot the city skyline.

Finally, I looked towards Špilberk Castle and St. Michael’s Church, completing a panoramic view of Brno’s rich architectural tapestry.

Photographing Brno from the Town Hall Observation Platform

During my time at the observation platform, I dedicated some effort to photographing Brno from above and capturing stunning images of the city. One of my favorite shots features the wavy-shaped buildings of Průchodní Street, which showcases Brno’s unique architectural style.

I also took out my zoom lens to capture a striking photo of the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, highlighting its intricate details against the backdrop of the sky.

Located at the end of Zelný Trh, the Sculpture of the Holy Trinity offered another fantastic opportunity to use my zoom lens.

Accessibility Tips for Visiting the Brno Town Hall Platform

When considering Brno Town Hall accessibility, it’s important to note that the observation platform may pose challenges for those visiting Brno with limited mobility. The main obstacle is the 173 steps leading up to the platform, which can be quite daunting for individuals who have difficulty climbing stairs.

Additionally, once you reach the top, the platform itself is extremely narrow, making it difficult for two people to pass each other comfortably. This may further hinder the experience for those who require more space or support while navigating crowded areas.

If you’re planning to visit, consider checking in advance for any potential accommodations or alternative viewpoints that may better suit your needs.

After visiting the observation platform of Brno Old Town Hall, be sure to check out the Brno Dragon, a symbol of the city located inside the walkway to the town hall. Legend has it that the dragon represents the victory of the city over evil forces.

While you’re in the area, take a moment to see if there’s a festival happening in the courtyard of Old Town Hall. During my visit, I enjoyed a fabulous African Music Festival that added a vibrant touch to the atmosphere.
