Croatia is a country of immense history, culture, and geographic beauty. While Croatia is small in land size, there is plenty to see, from historic urban areas to gorgeous landscapes. Below are my ten favorite photos from my visit to Croatia. I spent most of my time in Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes National Park, Split, and Dubrovnik, so my pictures all come from those locations. One of the highlights for anyone visiting Croatia is walking the City Walls of Old Town, Dubrovnik. While walking the City Walls, tourists can see a unique view of the top sights of Old Town. Plitvice Lakes National Park is famous for its beautiful waterfalls and memorizing turquoise-colored water. Visitors can spend the night near the park or take a day trip from Zagreb or Split. Photo #3 - The Riva Promenade - Split, Croatia
The city of Split is located on the Adriatic Sea and is home to Roman Emperor Diocletian. Diocletian’s Palace is one of Split’s most famous tourist sights. Another popular attraction is the coastal promenade known as the Riva. This picture was taken looking across the water towards the Riva Promenade and the Bell Tower from Diocletian’s Palace. Photo #4 - Placa Stradun - Dubrovnik, Croatia
Placa Stradun is the main shopping street in Old Town, Dubrovnik. Ending at the famous Dubrovnik Clock Tower, the street is lined with souvenir shops, restaurants, and specialty shops. Photo #5 - A Fresh Snowfall at Plitvice Lakes National Park
In the winter, Plitvice Lakes National Park can turn into a winter wonderland. This picture features fresh snowfall in the higher elevations overlooking the Big Lake. During my visit to Plitvice Lakes, the area received about three inches (7.5 centimeters) of new snowfall.

Photo #8 - The View from the Bell Tower - Split, Croatia
The Cathedral of Saint Domnius’ Bell Tower is located inside Diocletian’s Palace. Visitors can take the stairs to the top of the Bell Tower for a spectacular view of Split. This picture was taken looking towards the River Promenade.
Photo #9 - An Adriatic Sea Sunset - Split, Croatia
Many footpaths follow the Adriatic Coast of Split. This photo was taken while walking from the Riva/Diocletian’s Palace area to my hotel. The sunset and the silhouettes of the fisherman made a fantastic photo opportunity. I was just sad I didn’t have my tripod with me.
