Hilton Doubletree Alice Springs

Hilton Doubletree Alice Springs - Rate and Room Information

The Hilton Doubletree Hotel in Alice Springs was the perfect base location to tour the Red Centre of Australia. I chose this hotel because of location and because doubletree is part of the Hilton brand. In addition to getting the best roommate, I also was able to earn Hilton Points on my stay and dining.

The cost of my stay at the Doubletree was A$135 per night for a classic king room. My three-night stay came out to A$405 ($276).

Getting to the Doubletree Alice Springs

Alice Springs Airport is located about 13 kilometers away from the Doubletree.  After arriving at the airport, I caught hired a taxi from the queue outside the airport entrance.  The cost of the taxi was A$25.  Within 15 minutes, I was at the checkin desk, and within 20 minutes I was inside my room.

Qantas Airlines from Sydney provided excellent service.  I was able to upgrade to a first class seat for around $75 and the airline provides free WiFi to all customers.  As we approached Alice Springs, the terrain began to change colors and I was able to see the beautiful red rocks of the Northern Territory’s Red Centre.

Doubletree Alice Springs - Classic Queen Room

My room at the Doubletree was a Classic Queen room featuring typical amenities of what I expect from Hilton/Doubletree. The room featured a comfortable queen-size bed, a couch to sit on, and a table with a large workspace. I appreciated the table as it would give me a place to work on my website. Connected to my room was a balcony that overlooked the area near the dry Todd River.

My time in Alice Springs consisted of a 12-hour tour of the West MacDonnell Ranges and an 18-hour tour of Uluru/Kata Tjuta. As a result of these tours, I did not spend a lot of time doing anything in my room other than sleeping.

Double Tree Alice Springs - Meals

Although Alice Springs does have a downtown area with restaurants and shopping, the Hilton Doubletree is not within walking distance of any of them. Since I was exhausted each night from touring, I ate most of my meals at the hotel. There are multiple restaurants inside the hotel, including the Saltbrush (Australia Contemporary), Hanuman (Thai), and the Deck Bar (bar food and snacks).

My favorite meal of the trip was the first night. I had just arrived from the airport and decided to eat dinner at the Salbrush. I ordered a 300-gram rib eye with vegetables and fries. This delicious meal cost just over A$50 with a tip.

For the next two nights, I took advantage of the 24-hour room service. After a twelve-hour day touring the West MacDonnell Ranges, I ordered a barbecue bacon cheeseburger and fries from room service. Although there was a slight room service charge, I was happy to be able to eat in the comfort of my room.

The following day I returned from a marathon 18-hour tour of Uluru/Kata Tjuta. Again, I ordered room service this time going for the meat lovers pizza. Just like the night before, the food was great and I enjoyed eating from the comforts of my hotel room.
