Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro
Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro - Rates and Information
Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro was actually the second hotel I booked in Panama City. My first reservation at the DoubleTree by Hilton Panama City – El Carmen was canceled due to the closing of the hotel. I chose the Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro for its excellent location and cheap price. My five-night stay was $287 ($55 per night,) which seemed extremely inexpensive to stay at a Wyndham property.
I arrived in Panama City around noon and quickly cleared customs and immigration. To get to the Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro, I took a taxi. The rate was USD$30 as Panama’s official currency is the US Dollar. I am glad I survived the taxi ride as my driver wove in and out of traffic and cut off numerous vehicles. In the future I would take an Uber which was much safer.
Thankfully, I arrived at the Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro in one piece. Check-in was easy as the front desk agent spoke fluent English. The entire process only took about five minutes.
There are two elevators inside the hotel, and guests must scan their room keys before pressing the elevator button for their floor.
Although I never went inside, there is a gift shop near the hotel’s entrance selling Panamanian gifts and crafts.

Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro - The Room
My room at Tryp by Wyndham Panama City Centro was a classic king room and was located on the 6th floor. I was extremely impressed with the quality of my room. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious, and the view was outstanding. There was also ample closet space, a room safe, and a mini-fridge. I was especially happy with the work space, which meant I could spend some of my downtime working on my website.
The bathroom had plenty of space, and the shower had excellent shower pressure. Despite not having my room serviced due to COVID-19, housekeeping was happy to provide extra towels.
The Rooftop Pool
The pool was located on the roof and provided excellent views of Panama City. I never used the pool but did visit the rooftop to look at the view multiple times.
