Intercontinental Hotel MSP Airport
Intercontinental Hotel MSP Airport - Rates and Information
With the first leg of my flight to Panama leaving for Atlanta at 5:00 am, I decided to check out the Intercontinental Hotel MSP Airport. Prior to arriving at the hotel, I stopped at the airport and had my documents, COVID-19 test, and health affidavit checked. This way, in the morning, I will only have to check my bag.
Despite being advertised as the only hotel connected to MSP airport, there is no way to get to the airport from outside security. Although close enough to hit it with a well-thrown football, the only way to get to the Intercontinental Hotel MSP Airport was by shuttle. To catch the shuttle, call the hotel and then follow the signs to “Hotel Shuttles.” It only took a few minutes for the shuttle to arrive, and the ride was less than five minutes.
I checked in and requested the shuttle at 3:00 am as there is no airport access if you need to check a bag. There is access to the hotel if you are already through security via a skyway. That access is only useful if you have an overnight connection. To get from the hotel to the terminals, guests can use the hotel’s TSA checkpoint. Unfortunately, the TSA checkpoint was not and only works for people with carry-on baggage.
At a rate of $204, I do not think I would stay here again as there is no direct access to the airport. It feels like false advertising to claim that this is the only airport directly connected to MSP Airport. I have stayed at a lot of airport hotels that have direct access to the airport and have always been able to walk to them.

The Room
My room at the Intercontinental Hotel MSP Airport was spectacular. The king sized bed was comfortable, there was plenty of workspace, and I was able to watch the MLB Home Run Derby on a 55 inch TV. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with plenty of water pressure and hot water. I also had a spectacular view of the airport and could watch planes taxi and take off.
If I was only rating this hotel on the room, I would say that it exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately, at first, the WiFi did not work, and I had to use my hotspot to get some website and social media work done. A lack of WiFi was frustrating as cellphone service is spotty inside, and my hotspot was slow. By the time I was able to connect my computer I was ready to go to sleep.
Finally, due to COVID-19, the minibar was empty. It was disappointing that for $200 a night that a few bottles of water would not be included.
The Bradstreet Crafthouse
There are a few different options for eating including a coffee shop, outdoor restaurant, and an indoor restaurant named the Bradstreet Crafthouse. I chose the brisket grilled cheese with fries as it was one of the more unique items on the menu. It was pricey ($18) but delicious. I highly recommend the Bradstreet Crafthouse if you are staying at the Intercontinental Hotel MSP Airport.
