CitizenM Schiphol Airport

CitizenM Schiphol Airport - Rates and Information

The CitizenM Hotel Schiphol Airport is my best hotel find.  I chose the CitzenM because its location is within walking distance of Schiphol Airport.  During my two stays at this hotel, I was able to check into my room within 15 minutes of clearing passport control and customs.

I’ve stayed at the CitizenM Hotel Schiphol Airport multiple times.  The average room cost is around €100 per night for a Standard King Room.

Getting to the CitizenM Hotel from Schipol International Airport

The CitizenM can be kind of confusing to find.  There are two ways to find the hotel: First, you can walk through the Schiphol Train Station and follow a sign that says “hotels.”  From there, exit the building and follow the walking path towards the sign that says “CitizenM.”  You will be able to see the hotel upon exiting the airport.

The second method is to walk through the shopping mall attached to Schiphol Airport.  When you reach the end of the mall, exit the doors and turn left.  From there, cross the street and follow the sidewalk to the CitizenM.  You will also be able to see the hotel from the exit using this method.

Checking-In at the CitizenM Hotel Sciphol Airport

The CitizenM hotel has self-check-in.  To get the key to your room, you have to type in your last name and then scan your credit card and passport.  Check-in is fully automated and takes less than one minute from start to finish.  After checking in, guests must take a blank room key and press it down on the scanner.  This process will activate the key and allow you to get into your room.  The key can be kept and doubles as a luggage tag.

The Room

I like the rooms at the CitizenM as they are modern, comfortable, and clean.  That being said, the CitizenM rooms are meant for a single person.  The shower, sink, and toilet are located in the center of the room, and there is very little space.  As far as the bed is concerned, it is very comfortable, but it would be difficult to share with a second person.  It is located right up against a window (which provides excellent views of the airport) and whoever was next to the wall would have to climb over the other person to get out of bed.

Every room has an iPad which controls the temperature, lights, blinds, mood lighting, television, and alarm clock.  There are various themes of mood lighting that include relaxation, party, romance, and work.

The CitizenM has always been perfect for me.  When I fly to Amsterdam, I want a hotel that is within walking distance of the airport with a comfortable bed.

For travelers who want to go into the city center, there is a train station inside the airport that goes directly to Amsterdam Central.  This hotel is in a perfect location to access the train station as well.
