Barcelona’s Sagrada Família
About Barcelona's Sagrada Familia
Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia is the cities most famous church. It has a fascinating story as it has been under construction since 1882. Despite having a different architect initially, construction was taken over by the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí in 1883. Gaudí went onto complete about 25% of the basilica until he died in 1926.
Construction has continued over the past 90 plus years, and in 2010 the project was finally half completed. If construction stays on schedule, Sagrada Família will be finished in 2026, 100 years after Gaudí’s death.
The easiest way to get to Sagrada Familia is to take either Metro Line 2 or 5 to the station “Sagrada Familia.”

My Visit to Sagrada Familia
I did not go inside Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia as I did not have a reservation and the wait was hours long. I hope to one day be back to Barcelona and will definitely schedule a reservation and take a tour.
Below are some my best pictures. Sagrada Familia can be seen from all over Barcelona. One of the best views was from the deck of my Mediterranean Sightseeing Cruise. In the area close to Sagrada Familia, there is a large park as well as many shops and restaurants.
Sagrada Familia Tours and Packages
